Gods & Monsters Appalachian folklore is a rich tapestry of tales, myths, and legends woven into the fabric of the region's history and culture. Rooted in the rugged landscapes and deep forests of the Appalachian Mountains, these stories reflect the beliefs and traditions of the people who have inhabited these lands for generations. One prevalent theme in Appalachian folklore is the presence of mysterious creatures and supernatural beings that inhabit the mountains and forests. Additionally, Appalachian folklore is filled with stories of ghosts, witches, and other spectral entities that haunt the region's hills and hollows. These tales often serve as cautionary fables, warning against the dangers of straying too far into the wilderness or meddling with forces beyond human understanding. We were looking for gods and monsters. The mysterious allure of the dense forests providing a backdrop for Jason's exploration of his heritage. Inspired by Jason's reverence for his Appalachian roots and his fascination with the region's rich folklore, we embarked on an adventurous journey into Appalachian territory. We found those ghostly apparitions and creatures that dwell in the shadows. We played with fire. A storm rolled in and told us it was time to leave We were there to find Gods & Monsters The Raven Mocker is a shapeshifter with black feathers and hypnotic eyes. The Raven Mocker can make itself look like a normal human which allows it to get close to people. It does this because it sometimes eats people’s hearts and it’s able to feed on these hearts without causing any discernible physical trauma. It usually preys on people who are dying, and it’s considered malevolent as it will harm without conscience. Sometimes, it just consumes the essence of the dying without taking their hearts. It goes after the dying so that it can strengthen its life force and continue living.
